Alex Escobar, MS, MBA, serves as the Executive Director of Business Operations for the UAMS Institute for Digital Health & Innovation (IDHI), based in Little Rock, Arkansas. He brings extensive national and international experience in operational excellence and process improvement across multiple industries.
After several years working across the country, Alex returned to Arkansas to enjoy the state’s natural beauty and to continue his commitment to advancing healthcare innovation. Prior to joining UAMS, he served as Administrative Director at Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare in Memphis, Tennessee, where he led all budgetary and fiscal operations for system-wide call centers supporting six hospitals, along with affiliated urgent care centers, physician clinics, and minor medical facilities.
Driven by a passion for serving others and leveraging technology to improve access to care, Alex was drawn to UAMS and specifically to IDHI because of its mission at the intersection of healthcare, business, and digital innovation. In his current role, he oversees administrative services, contracts, grants, education initiatives, and technology operations for the institute.
Alex is actively leading outreach efforts with healthcare executives, hospitals, and trauma centers throughout Arkansas to identify opportunities where IDHI can support and enhance existing capabilities. His vision is for IDHI to serve as a model of innovation, helping organizations across the state, nation, and globally improve healthcare delivery and access.
Alex holds a Master of Science in Information Technology, with a concentration in Business Intelligence and Analytics, from Purdue University. He also earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus in Marketing from Saint Leo University, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Business, specializing in Global Business, from Eckerd College.
